Baked Ziti

August 24, 2018 Off By Laura Hartline

This is one of my family’s favorite recipes and one of my most requested recipes.  It is my go-to recipe for meals I bring to neighbors or friends in need or when we have company.  It is easy and everyone LOVES it.  Most of all, KIDS love it!  I made it this summer at our Hartline family reunion and it was a big hit.

Ingredients

  • 16 oz package of ziti
  • 45 oz spaghetti sauce (I use Prego, traditional)
  • 16 oz cottage cheese
  • 16 oz mozzarella cheese grated
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan grated
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 tsp Italian Seasoning
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1 cup cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.  Spray a 9 x 13 inch casserole dish with non-stick cooking spray.  It a pot, prepare noodles according to package directions.

  2. While the noodles are cooking, in a small bowl, combine the cottage cheese, 1/4 cup of the Parmesan, eggs, Italian seasoning, and salt and pepper.

  3. Drain the noodles when done.  Return the pot to the stove and on low heat add the cream.  When the cream comes to a boil, add 1 cup of spaghetti sauce.  Mix until combined and then add the cottage cheese mixture.  Remove from the heat and add the noodles and half of the mozzarella cheese.

  4. Pour into the prepared casserole dish.  Spread the remaining spaghetti sauce evenly over the top of the pasta.  Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses on top.  Bake in the oven for 30 minutes.
