Oreo Truffles

Oreo Truffles

Okay, these are hands down the easiest, yummiest treats you will make this season. We make these truffles every year and they are a favorite for anyone who tries them. People, there are only THREE ingredients. Did you hear me? I screamed it – THREE ingredients! That’s right – anyone can make these and if you haven’t already, you should. Today. Right now.

I don’t want to go on and on about these because with only THREE ingredients, there’s not much to say. The ingredients are as follows: one package of Oreos, one eight ounce block of cream cheese, and one package of chocolate chips. The most important instruction is to place the Oreos in the bowl of a food processor and whirl until they are fine crumbs. Just keep whirling and whirling until they are very fine. If you don’t have a food processor you could do them in small batches in a blender.

Next you’ll mix with the softened cream cheese until it is completely mixed and then form into balls. They’ll be very soft and greasy so the next step is also essential – place in the freezer for at least 4 hours or overnight. Then you’ll melt the chocolate chips and dip the frozen balls, coating completely with the chocolate. Done! So easy, right? I recently found some Toll House chocolate and mint chip combo packs that were SO delicious. We couldn’t eat just one!

I recently taught my cooking class how to make these and it was so fun. It is a great activity to do with your kids and give as neighbor or teacher treats.

Ingredients

  • 1 package Oreo Cookies
  • 8 oz cream cheese softened to room temperature
  • 12 oz package of chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Place cookies in the bowl of a food processor. Whirl until cookies are fine crumbs. If you do not have a food processor, you can place a few cookies at a time in a blender and blend until they are fine crumbs.

  2. Place the softened cream cheese in a medium bowl. Pour in the cookie crumbs and mix with a hand mixer until it is completely combined and you do not see any white from the cream cheese. The mixture will be greasy.

  3. Line a baking sheet with parchment and begin to form 1 inch balls with the mixture. Place on the baking sheet. It will make about 40+ balls. Cover and place in the freezer overnight or for at least 4 hours.

  4. Melt the chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl for one minute. Mix, then melt for 30 second intervals mixing in between until the chips are all melted. Dip balls into the chocolate until they are completely covered. Place back on the parchment. When all the balls are covered, place in the refrigerator to allow the chocolate to firm up. Enjoy!
