Pie Crust

Pie Crust

The best pie crust I have ever tasted.  I know people have strong feelings about their own pie crust.  I sure do.  To be honest, I am not a big fan of pie crust in general.  I do love pie, just not the crust left at the end.  However, if I am going to eat pie crust, it has to be this one.  It is the only recipe I use, it was my mom’s and probably her mom’s.  It is super easy to make and work with, no special instructions, just put all the ingredients in the mixer and combine.  Done!

P.S.  I also use this pie crusts for quiche.

Pie Crust

Crispy, flaky, delicious pie crust.

Course Dessert, Main Course
Servings 2 crusts

Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 Tbsp sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup vegetable shortening
  • 1/2 cup cold water

Instructions

  1. Place all ingredients in the bowl of a standing mixer.

  2. Mix until combined.  Add more flour or water depending on where you live to achieve desired consistency.  You want it to gather in a ball, not sticking to the bowl.
