Vanilla Buddies
We make all kinds of “buddies” for the holidays at our house, and sometimes we even make them when it isn’t a holiday! Of course, an all time favorite are the muddy buddies with peanut butter and chocolate, but I have to say, these vanilla buddies are equally as good.
They are made with only four ingredients and can be whipped up in just a few minutes. If you want to take the time to make them in 6 different colors, it will take you a bit longer. However, you can make them white and be done in 5 minutes. I think the pastel colors are perfect for Easter. They would also be great for a baby or wedding shower or birthday party. Whatever you are celebrating, they will be a big hit!
Vanilla Buddies
Rice or corn cereal covered in almond bark and powdered sugar.
Ingredients
- 6 cups Chex rice or corn cereal
- 12 oz almond bark
- 1 tsp vegetable oil
- 2 cup powdered sugar
- food coloring optional
Instructions
-
Measure the cereal into a large bowl or smaller separate bowls if you are coloring them. Place the powdered sugar in a gallon size zip-lock bag.
-
Melt almond bark in a microwave safe bowl for 1 minute. Stir. Melt for 30 second intervals, stirring in between, until it is all melted and smooth. *if you are making them different colors, you will want to melt smaller amounts. I used 2 ounces for each color (one square of bark).
-
Add the oil and food coloring (if you are coloring them) and stir. Pour the mixture over the cereal and stir to coat. (I poured the cereal directly into the smaller bowl since I was doing 6 different colors.)
-
Pour the cereal into the zip-lock bag and shake to coat with powdered sugar. Keep shaking until all the cereal is coated and no longer sticky. I did each color separately and used 1/3 cup of sugar for 1 cup of cereal. Serve as desired.
