Honey Wings
The quintessential finger food – wings. I have to say, these little bites pack a big punch. Not only that, they encapsulate everything that a wing should: sticky, sweet, spicy, and yes, messy!
The best thing – they are easy – super easy to make. Begin with frozen wings. Bake them for 10 min, add half the sauce, bake another 10 minutes, turn and add the rest of the sauce, bake another 10 minutes, boil the sauce for 10 minutes and pour over the top. Done – while all that baking is going on, sit and watch the game or better yet, read a book (did I just say that? yes I did;)
Update: I have added air fryer instructions to this recipe. I highly recommend making them that way. My entire family liked them better made in the air fryer! Thank you to a reader for asking me if it could be done!
Honey Wings
Sweet, spicy, sticky wings to round out any party menu.
Ingredients
- 3 lb frozen wings
- 1 cup honey
- 1 Tbsp curry
- 1 tsp ginger
- 1/2 tsp red cayenne pepper
- 1 tsp cornstarch
Instructions
-
Preheat oven to 400°F. Arrange frozen wings on a baking sheet. Bake for 10 min.
-
While the wings are baking, mix honey, curry, ginger, and cayenne in a small bowl. When the wings are done, coat them with half of the mixture. Bake for 10 minutes.
-
Flip the wings over and coat with the other half of the honey mixture. Bake for another 10 minutes and turn oven off.
-
When they are done, put the wings on a serving plate and place in the cooling oven. Pour the liquid into a small sauce pan and bring to a boil on medium high heat. Turn to medium and boil for 10 minutes. Add 1 tsp of cornstarch and boil for 10 minutes, whisking constantly at first and then occasionally. It may be lumpy but as it cools, they should go away. Take the plate out of the oven and pour the thickened sauce over the wings. Enjoy!
Air Fryer Instructions
-
Spray the inner and outer baskets of the air fryer with non-stick cooking spray. Add frozen wings to the basket. Set the temperature to 400° F and cook for 10 minutes.
-
Mix the honey and spices. When wings are done, cover with the honey mixture. Cook for 7 minutes. Flip wings over and cook for 7 more minutes.
-
Take the temperature of your wings, if they are not 165°F, cook for 5 more minutes. Before cooking that additional time, pour out the sauce from the outer basket into a small sauce pan. Add 1 tsp of cornstarch and boil for 10 minutes, whisking constantly at first and then occasionally. It may be lumpy but as it cools, they should go away. Place wings on a serving platter and pour sauce over. Serve immediately.
