Sometimes holiday food can feel heavy with breads, chocolates, and meats. While I love crackers and cheese for a before-the-feast-snack, a fruit board with fruit dip can lighten up the affair. It will tie you over so you’re stomach isn’t growling away. I don’t know how your Thanksgiving meals go but here is how we do it. The day begins with cinnamon rolls for breakfast while we watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. For a mid day snack, a Charcuterie board with cheese, crackers, meats, and fruit. Then we eat dinner at 2 or 3pm, and of course, pie for dessert around 7pm. It’s the best day. If at this point in motherhood, I stray from the schedule, my kids look at me like I’m crazy. Apparently we have raised extremely nostalgic and traditional children! I’m okay with that.
Like most fruit dips the basis of this one is cream cheese. There is also some sour cream, light corn syrup to sweeten (you could just use sugar if you are opposed to corn syrup), grated orange peel for a little zip, and the star of the show, a cup of chopped cranberries. It really comes together quickly and is SO tasty. I think it just may be my new favorite fruit dip – holidays or not!
If you are interested in a fruit dip sans the cranberries, try this one.
