Caramel Popcorn

Addictive, crunch caramel popcorn.

Ingredients

  • 2 bags microwave popcorn (or about 10 cups of air popped) light for traditional flavor, butter for a salted caramel flavor
  • 1 cup light brown sugar packed
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/8 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Fahrenheit.  Spray a large cookie sheet with non-stick cooking spray.  Pop the popcorn and remove any un-popped kernels.  Put popcorn in a large bowl.

  2. Combine the sugar, butter, syrup, cream of tartar, and salt in a medium sauce pan over medium heat.  Stir constantly and bring to a boil.  Boil for 5 minutes.  

  3. Pour caramel over the popcorn and mix until popcorn is coated.  Pour onto the cookie sheet.

  4. Bake for 1 hour, stirring every 20 minutes.  Allow to cool and then break apart into desired sizes.  Store in an air-tight container.
